Dr. Arslanian Explores How British Promises to the Armenians After World War I Were Unfulfilled

1401782182_arslanyanFor much of its history, Armenia has been a pawn or a bargaining chip for larger empires, and during the First World War, one of the most tumultuous times in Armenian history, the Armenians, as well as other peoples in the Middle East, naturally came to be used by the Allies, specifically Great Britain, for their own ends.

Dr. Artin Arslanian gave a lecture on this subject, titled “The Armenians, Georgians, Azerbaijanis, Arabs and Jews: The British Colonial Ethos After WWI,” during his visit to Fresno State on February 20, 2014. Dr. Arslanian is a professor of History and International Relations at Marist College in New York, specializing in British and modern Middle Eastern history as well as U.S. missionaries in the Middle East, and has published books on each of these subjects.

People of Azerbaijan pay their respect to victims of massacres and ethnic cleansing conducted as a result of imperial policies in the region and waves of Armenian aggression on 31st march.

When the president of the Europe Council and the Europeans were shown a mosque, a church and a temple in 150 meters’ distance from one other in Guba, they were astonished. According to the quality of tolerance, Azerbaijan people have got only differed in the East but also all over the world and this difference is going on even today. The unique experience of Azerbaijan in the field of interreligious dialogue and co-operation has always been highly appreciated and recognized by foreign politicians, diplomats and the officials of the international organizations.

Since the beginning of the last century Armenians have occupied our lands, as well as committing massacres, made Azeri people suffer. From the very first day of the establishment of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Armenians conquered Irevan Khanate with territorial claims. But they couldn’t gain their goals at that time.  Nagorno Karabakh has always been a strategical territory for Armenians. Unfortunately, although we had thousands of martyrs at the end of the last century, Armenians were able to conquer Karabakh with the help of their foreign supporters. However, at the beginning of the same century despite of its earliness, ADR government could save these territories.
