1347691134_xarici-isler-nazirliyiThe Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry calls on the international community to pay attention and condemn the repeated threats of Armenian terrorist organizations to Azerbaijani diplomats.
The statement came from spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elman Abdullayev speaking to journalists on Thursday. He was commenting on the letters received by a number of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan worldwide threatening the life of employees of the diplomatic missions on behalf of the Armenian terrorist organization NOR ASALA (“New ASALA”).

“We once were witnesses of the severe implications of the Armenian terror that resulted in numerous casualties among innocent civilians, and new threats voiced today are the challenge to the entire world, all the countries, which, together with Azerbaijan, are actively involved in the fight against international terrorism”, Abdullayev said.

According to him, the letter of threats from NOR ASALA was another demonstration of the fact that the Armenian side prefers terror and is willing to continue to use terrorism against Azerbaijan. “At a time when Armenia prefers terrorist methods, Azerbaijan continues to struggle with various forms of terrorism, and will remain an active participant in the struggle against international terrorism. We believe that these terrorist threats backed by the leadership of Armenia against Azerbaijan as an active fighter against global terrorism cannot and should not remain without condemnation from the international community since these threats are addressed to all other countries which participate in fighting this evil”, Abdullayev said.

The letter on behalf of NOR ASALA (New ASALA, as translated from Armenian) notes that the foundation was established on August 16, 2012 in Lebanon, and aims to terminate Azerbaijani and Turkish diplomats. In addition, the six-page letter contains threats to Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, and the murderer of the Turkish journalist of Armenian descent Hrant Dink. The letter also contains political demands along with the list of persons threatened.
